True bayberry candles have been the traditional Christmas candle in America since the 1600's when colonists discovered that the wax coating the berries of the bayberry shrub was an excellent wax for making candles. The rarity of the bayberry candles made them a ceremonial candle to be burned on Christmas even.

1 pair 8" real bayberry taper candles that are hand dipped on a circa 1850 candle carousel. These are the traditional candles to be burned on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. We have been making these candles for historic museums for 50 years. The beautiful presentation in the gift box makes this a wonderful hostess present.
